I purchased a 2018 Ford Transit Connect XL from 101 Motors LLC. Initially, I was satisfied with my purchase; however, several concerns have arisen since. First, the online listing price for the vehicle was thousands below what I had purchased it for. Upon reviewing the paperwork I signed in the dealership office, I was concerned about a mention of a three-month warranty. However, there was no written documentation confirming this. I spoke to the manager, who assured me that the warranty covered the engine and transmission for three months. While this was reassuring, there was still no official documentation to support this claim. As my 30-day temporary plates were nearing expiration, I contacted 101 Motors twice via email to inquire about the title for my vehicle. Their response was, “It should be here in the next few days.” After waiting 35 days for my title, I made an appointment at the DMV to pay taxes, register the vehicle, and obtain my plates. The DMV process went smoothly, but complications arose when I attempted to have the vehicle pass the New York State emissions test. The van failed the emissions test at multiple locations due to a faulty OBD sensor. I then reached out to 101 Motors LLC’s service department, questioning how a recently purchased vehicle from their dealership could fail such a basic emissions test, which is required in both New Jersey and New York. Their response was, “Sorry, claim denied. We don’t cover out-of-state emissions.” This situation forced me to cancel client appointments in order to take the van to Ford for repairs, costing me $1,200 to fix an issue I was unaware of prior to purchasing the vehicle. I am truly baffled by how 101 Motors LLC is allowed to sell vehicles that are unroadworthy.
